For the tourist in Bali, the much awaited festivals will going to take place this coming May. Bali villas and hotels in May will have the chance to see and enjoy one of the island's most significant and colourful festivals – the Galungan. This festivals will start between May 12th and 22nd, the locals and tourists will certainly enjoy the celebrations of the triumph of virtue (Dharma) over evil (Adharma). From their rich culture, the women will be going to make some food offering at the local temples, this according to them is part of the festivals.
Local restaurants will be going to prepare the special delicacies for their customers and then offer at a very much bargain price for the whole ten days of festival.
“The fitting of penjor, a long bamboo decorative pole that is fixed to the right side of the entrances to all family homes” is one part of the celebration of Galungan festivals. The local women will be dressed with woven young coconut leaves and are also decorated with edible items such as fruit and cake.
As part of the culture this festival is passing through generations, this also make family get together because as part of the occasions family member will return home to join in with the festivities.
Galungan festival is held around twice a year, even this is annual event this runs in cycles of 210 days, and the next celebration will take place after May will be December 8th.
